because of the guru’s promise to save the world, students flocked to his school. many villagers signed up for classes, and many others applied to be #zenterns.
the tortoise asked him, “do you feel guilty deceiving all these people?”
the guru said, “if the world was going to end, then yes, but since the oracle is a fraud, no.”
the tortoise said, “but what if the oracle is right?”
the guru replied, “then the world will end, and i won’t be around to feel guilty.”
the tortoise asked, “but what if you could have done something and didn’t?”
the guru realized that this was a grave possibility, and it troubled him deeply. but then he received an invitation for a dinner in his honor and he completely forgot about it.
