what is a kōan?

a kōan is a word from zen buddhism which literally means ‘knot.’ by studying the kōan and meditating upon it, a zen buddhist may attain enlightenment. it is much more complex than this description, of course, as all things are.

for the sage, a kōan is a short story that illustrates the truth of love and the three laws. if you study these kōans, you will not attain enlightenment, but you might fall in love.

and who is to say which is better?

on this website, the school of the sage online, you will also find personality tests, games, and more.

if you would like to speak with the sage, you should subscribe to the mailing list. then, when you receive your daily kōan, simply reply to the email and he will answer.
