230. the oracle

the guru stepped through the door into a bright room, lined with gold, studded with jewels, the perfect picture of opulence. a peculiar smell wafted through the air, and the guru felt light headed.

he beheld, in the middle of the room, a throne. on the throne sat a woman, the most powerful woman in the world, the only one with access to true truth. not even the Goddess knew more.

the guru approached the oracle and saw, carved into the tiles at her feet, an admonition: “only ask yes or no questions.”
